Half Dome with Clouds

While unstable weather rolled into the area I thought conditions might provide some spectacular photo ops for lightning strikes, sunset colors, etc. Alas, it wasn't to be.

Hoping that the current weather pattern would bring a stunning sunset to Yosemite and environs, I drove to Glacier Point on Friday in anticipation, stopping first at Washburn Point to make this photograph.

While heavy overcast at the horizon did not make for a photographer's dream sunset, this cloud formation above Half Dome late in the afternoon made a satisfying consolation prize.
